Water Boy

Our trip to Puerto Rico marked the the first of many different things for Mr. Avery. He had his first airplane ride, first trip off of the continental US, first introduction to the Spanish language, first taste-test of paella, etc. Another exciting "first" was Avery's first visit to a pool. While we have dipped Avery's feet in the ocean in SC many times, he has never had the opportunity to go swimming yet. Let me tell you...he frickin' LOVED it!!! He loved walking in the water, playing in the fountains, SPLASHING everybody, simulating "swimming" with support from mommy or daddy, and of course, diving under the water! There were a couple of times where he lost his footing and went under water for a second, but everytime we pulled him out, he just blinked the water out of his eyes and kept on walking. There were also a few occasions where he "dove" under the water...he would be standing there and then just shove his head under water. Talk about giving mommy a heart attack! I guess this means that I better learn how to swim pretty soon to keep up with him!!

Pool ready!

Let me go, Mommy...I promise I will be okay!

Taking swim lessons from an Army Ranger.
Swimming to my cousin, Jon.
Older chicks dig me.
My first water slide!! Uncle David was the only one brave enough to take me (Daddy didn't want to get wet before lunch and Mommy had one too many trips to the pool bar already).
Watch how I take on the water slide like a Man!!
Does this mean I have to wait 30 minutes before getting in the pool again??

My cousin, Little Dave, who is also zonked out from the water.

More, please!

I am SO ready for my nap now.

Fiesta Time!!

Sattelmeyer/Betancourt Rehearsal Dinner:

Quality time with my Aunt Belle.

Way overstimulated on the nightmare bus ride...and I think it's getting close to my bedtime!

Pacing the church aisles trying to keep myself awake.

No paella for me, please.

The Wedding:
Gorgeous Catholic Church in San Juan.
Snoozing before the ceremony.
The Reception:
Patio off of the reception hall that overlooks the ocean.
3 Speck Men.
The happy couple sneaking a smooch.
Best Mojitos Ever. I love RumLand.
Aunt Belle is a great teacher!
Holy crap, it's way past my bedtime!!
Father Gary with the Jean Team. Father has now married all 3 Sattelmeyer siblings.
Gorgeous reception....it looked like it was straight out of a bridal magazine!!
My Uncle Jon-Jon.
My Auntie Luz and her super-cute niece who loves me.
An Avery sandwich with the 3 Sattelmeyer siblings.

Come Fly With Me

We are blessed to have such a flexible kid. Avery is an amazing traveler. Does this mean we get to go on more vacations, Phil??

5:30am in the Charleston airport.

Oooo, tractor!

Getting my morning nap in a little earlier than usual...

Still sleeping, so.....

...time for some caffiene! (NO CAFFIENE WAS CONSUMED BY BABY)

Where the heck did Mommy run off to??

I make friends wherever I go.

Chicks dig me. Phone numbers come next.

Daddy didn't tell me that flirting was such an exhausting sport.

Holy humidity, Batman....Puerto Rico is hot as heck.

Taking my mind off of leaving Puerto Rico by playing video games.
Where's the duty-free store at???
Excuse me, do you all accept Visa??
Airport shuttles are great ways to pass the time around 11 at night after you have experienced three flight delays in one day. I am still good as gold. I think Mommy & Daddy will keep me. :)

I Gotta Have My Pops

Mum's the Word

As the family's main photographer, I don't get to be included in a lot of Avery's photos. I probably make as few appearances as our DOGS. Ouch!

Let It (Not) Snow

Yeah, Charleston got snow this past weekend; about 3-5 inches in some areas. The Jean Family has not been here long enough to be impressed or excited. Being snowed-in in Columbus, Ohio with 12+ inches of the annoying white fluffy stuff the weekend before also did not help my mood. But I gotta say, it's a surreal experience to see snow in a swamp or on a palm tree. And I guess snow is okay when you can wear flip flops and no jacket the next day. :)

The snowcovered wetlands on the edge of our property.

Our neighbor's palm trees.

The only thing that saved this snowman's butt 12 hours after it snowed is the fact that it was built in the shade.

Sorry, we don't have any pictures of Avery playing in the snow. We're trying to keep him healthy for Uncle Jon-Jon's wedding next week. Besides, one set of his grandparents live in the frickin' snow belt of Ohio with lake-effect snow to boot (did I just write 'to boot'???). I think he will see plenty of snow in his lifetime. :)
