Playtime

My Little Cheese Puff

Felicidades, tía Luz!

Esta es mi tía Luz. Ella es tan bonita. No puedo esperar para ir a Puerto Rico para su boda con el tío Juan-Juan.

"At Least We're Not Detroit!!"

The title to this blog is a reference to some hilarious videos about Cleveland that you can find on You Tube.

Avery accompanied Mommy and Grandma to Cleveland last weekend for future Auntie Luz's bridal shower. Here are some pics from the trip:

1) Big Mac, please!
Avery's first encounter with a McDonald's AND his first highchair experience in a restaurant.

2) Snoozin' and cruisin'
Luckily, we traveled to Cleveland the day after his full day of doctor's appointments, so he slept the majority of the 12 hour car ride.

3) Carolina boy at heart
This was the first time Avery has ever had to wear a hat, coat, shoes and socks all at one time. While I LOVE the fall in Cleveland, Avery was not too pleased. He is truly a South Carolina boy...loves to go naked....

4) Time with the Grandparents

5) Sitting in the same highchair that Uncle David, Mommy, and Uncle Jon-Jon used to sit in...

6) O, Christmas Tree!!
If you are thinking, "what the heck is Avery doing playing with the Christmas tree in September???", then you don't know me at all. My parents have kept their Christmas tree up year round for the past 15?? some years. They occasionally take it down to dust it, haha.

What's Up, Doc??

Last week, Avery had to get some testing done at MUSC here in Charleston. Nothing too concerning...just some follow-up testing on his bladder and kidneys. This included an entire day of tests and doctor appointments. Let me tell you, Avery is a frickin' CHAMP!!! He lasted all day without getting fussy. He took his catheter like a MAN (Daddy was crossing his legs and tearing up, though!). In addition, he said "who needs Lasix?? I can pee like a racehorse without it!!". The hardest part of the day was getting an IV, which took 3 tries and the help of a NICU nurse to finally succeed. Yeah, he didn't like that one too much....and I was bawling right along with him. I guess Mommy has a heart after all!

"Patient"-ly waiting in between appointments:

Baby's butts hanging out of hospital gowns are much cuter!!!

The doggies all have jewelry with their name on it...now I have a cool ankle bracelet with MY name on it too!!

Sittin' Pretty

Here is a video of Avery playing with (chewing on) my measuring cups while sitting up. Sorry for the long video, but enjoy!!

5.5 Months

Good Eats

In the past couple of weeks, Avery has grown to love bananas, sweet potatoes, applesauce, carrots, and prunes. He eats ravenously and with much enthusiasm. Still doesn't like the peas, though....

Playstation 4

Footloose

Avery is becoming very resourceful in his maturing age. He uses his feet for many different things throughout his day:

1) As a teething ring:

2) As entertainment when bored:

3) As an extra pair of hands to hold his bottle:

4) As ways to imitate Mommy during playtime:

A Week in Review

1) Fine Dining:
The new food for this week is sweet potatoes!! Two thumbs up from Avery!!

Avery is anxiously awaiting seafood to be added to the menu...

2) Recreation:
Last Sunday, our family visited Wanamaker Park and walked the mile loop in the woods a couple of times. This was a big deal because Avery has never actually visited the park outside of Mommy's tummy. The dogs and I would walk here a couple of times each week before Avery was born. Needless to say, the mile goes a lot faster when you don't have to stop and pee every 5 minutes!

3) Athletic Events:
Avery is trying his hardest to crawl. He lays on his tummy and kicks his legs like a frog...it's pretty cute. Only when he gets frustruated and tired will he really try to get his knees underneath him. In the pictures below, Avery is "army crawling" like his Uncle David and taking out the enemy (the enemy is apparently a colorful and friendly looking giraffe).

4) Socializing:
How cute am I??

5) Family Time:
Here, Avery is trying to take off Daddy's Atlanta Braves' hat. He must be a true Indians fan at heart...
