Great Wolf Lodge: Charlotte, NC

We purchased a groupon for a night at the Great Wolf Lodge in Charlotte, NC.  Otherwise, I would never pay the extra-exorbitant price.  But the groupon made the trip totally worth it.

I don't have many pictures of the kids in the actual water park because Phil and I were too busy having fun--err, supervising--to sit there and take pictures.  Avery got to go on all of the slides except one; Kayla was a little limited because she was 1/2 inch too short (total BS, but refer to the post on our trip to the fair), but she still had a great time.

The room we got had a separate "treehouse" with bunk beds for the the kids.  The tree house had it's own TV...with cable!!  A big hit with these kids, lol.
Like Disney, the Great Wolf Lodge knows how to market all of these extra "add-ons" that sucker parents end up purchasing for their spoiled kids.  Our splurge was on a MagiQuest hunt through the lodge for Avery....he LOVED it.  We will never be able to spend the night in an ordinary hotel, ever again.
The kids went to a story time session at night and watched some creepy 1980's animatronics act out a scenario.  Oliver the Raccoon also made an appearance and helped read a bedtime story.  The kids were exhausted.

The cool thing about the Great Wolf Lodge is that you can swim in the park from 1pm the day of check-in through closing time on the day of check-out.  So you can really get your money's worth, even if you have to check out at 11am.  We swam for a long time the next day and then the kids enjoyed a nap in the car on the ride back home.
This is a video of Kayla dancing at dinner at the Great Wolf Lodge.  Normally, we have a "bottoms down" rule at the dinner table.  But because the kids were sooooo tired from swimming for hours and there was no one in the restaurant,  I decided to "pick my battles".  I happened to catch the end of a Mariah Carey song and I have to say, Kayla totally rocked the finale.  Very good interpretive dancing, in this proud momma's opinion.  And you can't help but love the bow at the end.  Nice.
