So You Think He Can Dance?

Please refer back to an earlier July post in which Avery is dancing with Grandma. Below you will find Avery dancing again...this time, Mommy- and Kanye-style. I especially love his head tricks in the middle of the movie. Where does he get this stuff from????

Gettin' My Hair Did

My baby boy received his first full-blown haircut this weekend. My mom's friend had trimmed Avery's "wings" when he turned a year old, but after four months, I decided that it was time for the real deal. On a random sidenote, I am not a fan of the Justin Beiber shaggy do's that all the boys are sporting this summer. Perhaps my wanting to get Avery's hair cut was my passive-aggressive hint to all of the tweens out there sporting a mop: clean up your hair, we know you can't see with those bangs in your eyes, and, by the way, you still have very little chance of impressing a girl no matter whose hairstyle you copy.

Woah. Totally unnecessary rant. I hope I become much cooler before Avery hits junior high.

Anyways, we took Avery to the ooh-la-la fancy schmancy "salon" that Daddy goes to: Sports Clips! I thought that Avery would do better if he sat on my lap, but the stylist suggested that we try him sitting independently on a booster first. Ouch lady...cut the cord, why dontcha?? To my surprise, Avery did just fine sitting without his mommy (oh, the pain!). Of course, watching a Sesame Street music video on Phil's I-Phone, being bribed with a lollipop for the first time, and having tons of pretty ladies flirting with him helped some. As good as Avery was during the cut, he stayed true to his personality and was very clear when trim-time was over. My boy holds fast to his beliefs...No means no.

Final random sidenote for the evening: apparently, your child's first haircut is free at Sports Clips. Yup, I'm going to be that Mom who drags her seven year old there with a camera and fake tear in her eye just to avoid a 10 dollar bill. Avery, let the embarassment begin!

Why Won't Someone Put Me to Bed??

This is what happens when you skip naptime in order to go to the pool. My bad.

Mess-in' Around

Wait a second, this last one was Haley's doing. Sneaky dog.

Baby Bach...

...with a touch of ADD.

Avery's Tall Tale

Avery had his 15 month well-visit a couple of weeks ago (I am a little behind with life, due to our trip to Cleveland and then Grandma and Grandpa Sattelmeyer visiting for a week). Here are Avery's stats at that time:

Weight: 26 lbs 7 oz, 65th percentile
Head Circumference: 49.5 cm, 95th percentile
Height: 34 inches, greater than 95th percentile, or "off the charts" as Dr. Dino likes to put it.

As Avery is currently demonstrating average weight and above-average height and hat size, I have come to the conclusion that Phillip Jean's genes are dominating our child...for now. :)

Wild Thing

Great. Now we have to re-teach Avery how to dance. :)

Cleveland Rocks

Thanks to my dear friend, Karola, for helping me have the most enjoyable Cleveland trip since graduating college. After Karola and Avery met for the first time, we enjoyed the most scrumptious pasta EVER in Little Italy, got our feet wet in Lake Erie (e-coli, anyone?), and took in an Indians game and fireworks show (unfortunately, Avery missed this last one...way past his bedtime). Avery has a new-found buddy and loved being carried around by Karola ("Aunt Muscles"). Enjoy Germany, Karola...we will miss you!
