He's Gonna Be a Soccer Playa!

Avery has recently started playing in a soccer league at the local YMCA.  He has a blast practicing in the back yard and on the field with his team.  We think he is pretty good!

Avery's first practice...listening to "coach".  How come I don't get this attentiveness at home??
Practicing before his first game.
Lining up for drills.
More drills.  Let's just play already!
Avery enrapturing (read: distracting) half of his team with commentary on his jersey.
He's not being rude, I swear....he just puts his fingers in his ears when he is either scared or overstimulated by all of the noise.
Taking the field for the first time in his first official soccer game.
Oh wait....he's holding up the game because he has to tell "Coach" something very important.  I love the hand on the shoulder.
Staying with the ball.
Fighting his teammate for the ball....(sigh)....three year olds....
He won the ball! Headed towards the goal!
He shoots....he scores!!!  Avery had many goals during his first game.
Miss Kayla was either perturbed at getting up super early on a Saturday OR that Avery was getting all of the attention.  Most likely the latter.
An attentive Daddy watching the action.  Kayla is watching a dog.
Cheerleaders have to stay hydrated!
Not too happy....time to go??
A focused Avery watching the game.
No pictures, Mom!!
One of Avery's goals....

Girls Gone Wild in SC...Just Kidding.

Mommy and Kayla unfortunately had to stay behind in South Carolina during the boys' trip to Kentucky because Mommy couldn't get enough time off from work.  After many attempts to plan the trip with as many Jeans as possible, Kayla and Mommy stayed at home in the end.  As bummed out as we were to be "left" behind, we had a fantastic time together.  I never realized how frickin' hilarious this girl is!  She must have her Daddy's sense of humor, because she was constantly making me laugh.  Our time was spent taking lots of walks outside after work, going shopping, and lots and LOTS of dancing.  It was great bonding time...I love my girl.

A Boyz Trip to Kentucky

Earlier this month, Avery and Phil took a quick trip to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to spend time at Ninny & Grandaddy's house, while Aunt Kelly, Uncle Darren, Eli, Oliver, and Emeri were all visiting from Texas on their spring break.  Since Avery was born, all three of the Christian cousins have been super sweet with him, doting on him and giving him lots of attention. This trip was no exception.  Avery had lots of fun "guy" time with his older cousins Eli and Oliver, goofing around and playing lots of video games.  Avery and Emeri (who is six) had a great time making up games to play with each other and being creative in their pretend play.  Three birthdays were celebrated during this trip, including Ninny's 70th birthday, Oliver, and Avery....everyone had amazing cakes!  There was tons of great food, presents, and memories made.  Needless to say, both Avery and Daddy were exhausted after this trip!

A Tall Drink of Water

The Jean DNA has officially beat out the Sattelmeyer DNA.

Kayla's 2 year well-check stats:
Height: 36.5 inches; greater than 95th percentile
Weight: 29lbs 9oz; 75th percentile
Head Circumference: 19.5 inches; 95th percentile

Quote from Dr. Dino during appointment: "Ummm....so, she's pretty tall..."

With Phil's size and my attitude, ain't NO ONE gonna be messin' with this girl!!

Sattelmeyer Cousins

We spent a night in NC a couple of weekends ago to celebrate Kayla's and Athena's birthdays.

Like Ninny and Grandaddy, Aunt Susie makes sure that Kayla is in touch with her girly-princessy side.
Apparently, Kayla knows that a gift card equals shopping!
Avery and his BFF, Uncle David.  They have been best buds since Avery's birth.
Athena leading a cousins' dance party, while watching "Pitch Perfect".

Not only is it impressive that Aunt Susie can wear these Jessica Simpson stilletos/platforms, but Athena waltzing gracefully around the house in them is even more mind-boggling.  Too bad Kayla will only have flip-flops and tennis shoes to play dress up in!  BORING!!
The older cousins playing Light-up Legos together.

We have been taking videos of the three, then four, then five cousins running around this kitchen island for several years now.  The only cousin missing this time was Big Jon, who is off at college.

The SC Aquarium

We definitely get our membership's worth during the months when it is too cold and too hot to play outside.  Seeing as how it is March now, we probably won't go again until July!!
