Avery's 5th Birthday

Avery celebrated his 5th birthday not too long ago.  We had an absolute blast counting down the days until Avery's big day and birthday party (the countdown began approximately one day after Christmas).  When your kid reaches the age of 5, his anticipation and excitement of this much awaited day becomes contagious to even the most grown up of grownups.

Following tradition of the past several years, Phil and I snuck into Avery's room the night before his birthday, removed the Spider Man Happy Birthday sign from one year ago (seriously??), and put up new pirate decorations (that I hope will be removed before summertime, at the very least).
Avery was pretty stoked when he woke up the next morning and saw all of his decorations.  He immediately got in character to match the décor.

Uncle David, Athena, and Little David all came down to celebrate Avery's birthday weekend with us.  The girls immediately enjoyed a picnic out on the porch.

Little David wanted to get in on the picnic action too.
Then, we enjoyed listening to a Sattelmeyer-Jean concert.  The only kid not rocking out was Avery, who was (understandably) distracted by his boatload of new toys from the family.

Avery enjoyed opening up his presents from Ninny & Grandaddy, MawMaw & Pop Pop, Uncle David, and Kayla.  There. Were. A. Lot. Of. Guns.

We enjoyed soccer-themed cupcakes and singing happy birthday to Avery.

We took advantage of the (finally) dry weather and strolled around the block to burn off our cupcakes.  Athena and Kayla insisted on bringing their baby with them.
Sattelmeyer Selfies...complete with the obligatory tiaras!!

Ummm.....
.....ummmm......
This is what you get for your birthday when your uncle is a former Green Beret.
Ummm....Uncle Jon Jon and Aunt Luz sent an arsenal of weaponry as well.  I fear that this is going to be a very wet summer....
