Deep Musings, by Emily Jean

We were walking back from the playground one day and all of a sudden, I realized that Phil was wearing this outfit. Back in our Louisville-Kentucky-pre-children days, he used to always wear this pair of faded old Eddie Bauer jeans that sag way too much in the seat area. Do you ever have those split seconds in your brain where an image or situation causes a textbook-worth of thoughts and emotions to bombard your nervous system? Well, this picture sums up my moment. I swear, in half a second, my mind was racing about how our walks used to be 5 years ago, just Phil (in his old baggy jeans) and I walking our TWO dogs (who were doted on and loved by us in an unhealthy amount) in one of the coolest cities ever...and now we walk ONE dog (who is in desperate need of positive attention and affection) and have a pre-schooler and toddler (along with a pair of jeans that need to be donated to Goodwill) and we live in a swamp in South Carolina. Life has changed so much for us over the past five years, but I am so appreciative of all of those changes. Thank you God for all of our blessings (and the jeans that will never die).
