A Summary of Sibling Time in May & June

All right, so I haven't been posting much lately.  We have been extremely busy in our work and personal lives, on top of rearranging three rooms in our house.  We moved all of the kids' toys into our office, which is now their new playroom; we moved our office upstairs to the sitting room within our bedroom; and we moved all of the junk from our sitting room up to the attic.  Needless to say, we have made tons of trips to the Goodwill in the past several months.  The good news is that we finally have an "adult" living room AND a new TV downstairs.  Parenting is soooo much easier with a TV (haha).  Here are just some random photos of the kids over the past couple of months. (Sidenote: be sure to check out the picture of the 2 kids sitting on the sofa, watching our new TV for the first time: Avery's face is priceless).

Clean Chompers

Avery had another trip to the dentist....which would be no big deal except that it coincided with Kayla's first dental appointment.  As I figured, she wanted to have nothing to do with these crazy people sticking their hands in her mouth.  No one got bit, but she had to lie on my lap while they examined her and she cried a lot.  Can't say I blame her.

Here is a look at Avery's dentist trips over the last year and a half (yes, I was a horrible mother and did not take my child to the dentist until he was three.  Sue me).

Over the past three visits, Avery has grown increasingly comfortable at the dentist:

He started out just sitting up in the chair when he was three years old.
At three and a half years old, he compromised and agreed to lie down in the chair, but never moved from his side.
Finally, at four years old, he immediately walked in and splayed himself out on the chair like he had been doing it his whole life.  It was pretty funny.  This kid has a fantastic memory and had probably been mentally preparing himself for this very moment.  Well done, Avery!
He looks so grown up here!!
This is the only picture I could get of Kayla during her first dentist visit.  I fear for these people next time when Kayla actually KNOWS what to expect.

Soccer Star

Avery played soccer this spring through the local YMCA.  He started the season off strong, paying attention, scoring goals and having fun.  He ended the season bored, whiny, and flying around the field while pretending to be an airplane and then telling the coach that he ran out of fuel.    Kayla enjoyed being the cheerleader and partaking of the team's snacks.  The season ended with the kids playing at Blackbaud Stadium with Charleston's semi-professional players, the Charleston Battery.  The last picture is of Avery at ChuckECheese, after receiving his trophy and medal.

"Dang, It Feels Good to be a Gangsta"

Leave these kids unattended for TWO minutes, and they somehow end up dressed to be on the cover of a rap album.

She Is Growing Up So Much...

Flowertown Festival: A Look Back

We are our own worst critics.  I just want to state for the record that my blog "Look Backs" (is that even a phrase??  If not, I am coining it now) would be much more effective if I could remember to take the same pictures every year with the same people in the same locations.  Hmmmm....nice idea in theory... but I just don't have time for that kind of planning.  :)
