We hadn't seen Phil's sister or her family since Kayla was born, as they live in the far away land of Texas (or we live in the far away land of South Carolina). Luckily, we were all able to coordinate a quick trip to Kentucky this summer to reunite. The cousins had a great time getting reacquainted with one another. Kayla is in love with her "girl" cousin, Emeri. And Avery loves being one of the guys.
Ninny & Grandaddy took us out on a pontoon boat on Barren River Lake in southern Kentucky. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous and made me miss Kentucky all over again. We had a lot of fun on the boat. The kids all took turns steering the boat as well as rafting (? I don't know boat lingo) on an inner tube dragged behind the boat as Grandaddy drove. All of the kids loved jumping and playing in the water. It was an absolutely fabulous time and a memory I know all of these cousins will cherish.
On another day, we went to a small amusement/water park in the area. They had several rides that Avery was tall enough to ride on so he wasn't stuck on the "baby" rides. Avery absolutely loved all of the rides, including a little roller coaster. Who knew my little man was such a daredevil???
While we were all at the amusement park, Kayla spent the day with Ninny & Grandaddy, getting special love and attention. She enjoyed her own ride at Sam's Club, ate lunch, fed the ducks, and took a much needed nap.
Avery and I got special Ninny time when she took us to a Farmer's Market and then to an Apple Orchard. Avery's favorite part was the ice cream cone at the end.
Before we all left, we made sure to take some group photos. I hope this becomes a yearly visit.
