A Lookback: Westview Farm and Cornmaze

We have been going to the Westview Farm and Cornmaze since our first autumn here in Charleston.  It isn't too terribly exciting (and it's a little bit "country") but we make ourselves go for tradition's sake.

Why isn't there a spot to scrapbook "Baby's First Cornmaze"??

I love this gate in front of the animals' pens.  You can really keep track of how tall your kids get each year!

The mini hay-maze is always a big hit with the kids.

A Lookback: Legare Farm's Pumpkin Patch

I love to compare photos of the kids in specific events or places that we try to go to every year.  It is fun to see how much they grow up in the matter of 12 months' time.  It would be nice if I made sure I took the same photos of the same people in the same place, but....that would just be too much planning, wouldn't it??   I would also like to note that I planned well this year by putting Avery in the same clothes as I did the year before.  Oops.  Kayla picked out her own clothes this year, so no worries there.

This lookback is at the kids playing at the pumpkin patch at Legare's Farm on John's Island.  We have gone the last three years in October with friends of ours.  The first year we went, Kayla was about 6 months old and Cooper was almost one year old, so there were a couple of strollers, bottles, and diaper bags.  This year, Stephanie and I remarked at how awesome it was to show up with just a pack of handwipes in our back pockets.  I miss my babies but freedom never felt so good!!

Avery's First Shot at Bowling

Wheew.  October has been documented.  Now onto November.

Avery attended a birthday party at the beginning of the month for his school friend, Nadia.  One of the kid's moms was shocked that Avery had never bowled before.  Not because he was pretty good at it (he was) but because apparently good moms take their kids bowling a lot.  Whatevs.  We invest our time introducing our children to sports that could potentially pay for college, thank you very much!!

Trick or Treat: 2013

After we took the kids to the pirate show in Myrtle Beach this summer, they made early decisions on their Halloween costumes for 2013.  I was really surprised that neither of them changed their minds in the matter of four months' time, although I did see Kayla waver a bit when she found a Batman costume (not Batgirl with the skirt, but BatMAN) at the Halloween store.  With some redirection and a few distractions, I was able to pry the Batman get-up from Kayla's hands.  I would have LOVED for her to represent at Halloween this year in a tough superhero costume, but see, I had already ordered the mermaid skirt from an online swim website (that specializes in mermaid tails girls can ACTUALLY swim in....ummm???), and as it was being clearanced out, it was non-returnable.  Whew.  Crisis averted.  Now Kayla doesn't have to show up to the pool next summer in a mermaid tail.  Unless she wants to.  :)
