Crawling Critter

The easy part is over....I have a mobile baby now. With a very independent personality. Oh yeah, and a two and a half year old. Also possessing a strong independence trait. And a dog that doesn't listen to me. LIFE JUST GOT TOUGH!!! (But I love it!!)

My Social Butterfly

This is a picture my dad took at our church picnic when Kayla and I were visiting in Cleveland. Kayla is laughing and smiling at this dancing two year old...and showing a move or two herself!

Farmer's Market Fun

Summer's over. We can all leave our air-conditioned houses and enjoy the outdoors.

Twinkle Twinkle

A monkey is more interesting than a music lesson with your own mother??? No way....

Avery's Bedtime Story

I have been telling Avery stories before his bedtime, instead of reading his books. I can only take so much Thomas the Tank Engine in one day, ya know? My favorite stories to tell Avery involve a giant named "Mighty Man", who is as tall as Avery's daddy and helps out the very short subjects in the Kingdom of Kites. Don't ask. I'm usually mentally exhausted by the kids' bedtime.

Last night, I asked Avery if he wanted to tell me a story. "Yeeesssss" was his very emphatic answer. Here is Phil's summary of Avery's first story. I may be a bit biased, but I thought it was pretty darn good for a two and a half year old.

"McQueen and Woody were at the house. Meow, the cat, was at the door. The dog was at the door. Woof woof. The cat was in the car. They went to the store. They got cottage cheese. They got a banana. There was a bunny rabbit at the store. He got a birthday cake. Avery and Taco rode in the car. It was Mommy and Daddy's car. Avery ate the cake. Mommy ate the cake. Daddy ate the cake. Maw Maw ate the cake. Pop pop ate the cake. Haley ate the cake. The End."

Toga Boy

This was Avery's "pj's" tonight: doggie PJ bottoms, the "red guitar" shirt that he wore all day, his Spiderman bicycle helmet, and a blanket toga. God, I love this child!!!!!

Trip to Cleveland

Last weekend, Kayla and I travelled to Cleveland to visit Grandma Speck in her rehab facility. It was Kayla's first plane ride, second trip to Cleveland, and first time meeting great Uncle Tommy.

Little Kayla is fitting all too well in Avery's big boy car seat. Killing time in between flights.
FINALLY asleep on the plane. This girl is very hard to hold in my lap.
Making goo-goo eyes at Uncle Tommy.
Visiting with the grandmas.
It's very therapeutic to hold a baby...
I love you, Grandma Speck.
Playing with Maw Maw.
Check out our big blue eyes...

Kayla Elizabeth, 6 Months

Photo Shoot

It's not often that (a) I am at home with nothing to do; (b) My kids are dressed in something other than diapers and t-shirts; and (c) My cameras are fully charged. These were fun pictures to take, for me, at least....I am not sure how the kids felt, but the last picture might just sum it up.
