Hooked On Phonics

I am sure it was a total coincidence when we found Avery pointing to the boxed-up gate and saying the "ga" syllable with a long "a" (I just had to google the difference between a long and short vowel...obviously, Hooked On Phonics did not work for me). But of course, it was too funny and we had to take some video.

Mr. Busy

Okay, okay, I know that I take lots of pictures of Avery on a regular basis. But I am especially guilty of being a shutter freak during these last couple of weeks before Avery turns One. I guess I am subconsciously trying to document and remember my son as a little baby.

And to think we were going to put this toy away...it is Avery's new kitchen obstacle course.
Man, you take your eyes off of this kid for two seconds...
Learning by osmosis?? Or hinting to Mommy that the carpet needs vaccuumed?
Pacifiers apparently come in handy at the playground. I don't know what was more disconcerting: the fact that I had to pull three stones out of Avery's mouth or the fact that I never saw them go in his mouth in the first place??Yeah, work it, Sexy Boy.
When is Uncle David coming to play with me???
Who needs pacifiers.
Almost! When there is a toy missing, you usually hear someone yell, "Willie!!" Note the teeth marks on all of these rings. Good grief, my life is a Zoo sometimes. :)
Let us outta here!!
Getting bigger (and busier) everyday.

Final Random PR Pics

Cheap breakfast in San Juan...cool mural.
Avery & Mommy enjoying another breakfast together. Screw the omlettes, let's just hit the beach!!
Happy baby. He knows he is going to the pool soon.
Hanging out with the Speck guys. Avery's cousins, Charlie & Randy, were so sweet to him.
Alfalfa. Puerto Rico humidity wreaks havoc on everybody's hair.
Avery & Auntie Luz.
"You're one of them now, Aunt Luz."
I thought Avery loved our dogs. Turns out, he just likes the leashes.
Twinsies!
Is someone going to peel this thing for me or what?? Both of my boys are handsome in blue.
San Juan & beach from our balcony. Which I wouldn't let Phil even open the door until Avery was on a completely different floor. Being a mother means having irrational fears.
Narly, dude.
Avery "helped" us unpack. I love how Phil's shoe is the length of Avery's trunk.
Avery, get away from the window!!! Again, those irrational fears...
Avery has a tendency to concentrate on discriminating different textures.
Apparently, he felt like sand had the texture of food.
Cousin Randy showing Avery how to use the shovel. They say I look like this guy?!?
Avery spent most of this dinner dancing in his chair and watching this video on Latin jazz. Someone get him some bongos!!
